Regi Harvey puts down his guitar and picks up his drumsticks for this guitar-sax-bass-drum combo, which plays free jazz in the spirit of Ornette Coleman and Charles Mingus. Though not a jam session, a variety of local jazz artists regularly sit in when the Lab Rats play. Led by guitarist Michael Bockelman, the group's repertoir features original, highly improvisational spins on familiar jazz standards.
